The Jimmy Mulzet Story
(Revised Edition)
Jimmy Mulzet nearly died before his first birthday. Diagnosed with cerebral palsy at six months of age, it initially appeared that Jimmy’s journey in life would be full of challenges. Despite his diagnosis and prediction that he would never walk, Jimmy soon discovered that God sometimes provides miracles. All he had to do was be patient.
In an inspirational memoir shared to encourage others to be the best they can be despite their obstacles. Jimmy chronicles his remarkable life experiences that shine a light on the value of being embraced and loved unconditionally by both God and his family as he overcame seemingly insurmountable odds to lead a self-sufficient, accomplished life. Buoyed by his faith and prayer, Jimmy details how he achieved independence by eventually learning to walk – a life skill that allowed him to attend school, make friends, and later run in the New York marathon, climb the stairs to the top of the Empire State Building, and meet Pope Saint John Paul II.
Throughout his narrative, Jimmy inspires others with disabilities to never give up, find hope in the darkest of places, and always rely on God for strength.
Excerpts:
Excerpt 1:
My parents were determined that I would walk. They wanted me to get out of the wheelchair. My father was very determined about this and gave me one hundred percent of his support when he could. No matter how much my parent’s hearts were breaking and the pain they felt, they still were there for me. It was my father who got me out of the wheelchair and on my own feet. He was the one who got me to walk. Others helped but it was Daddy who helped me the most.
Excerpt 2:
Anything Frankie could do, I wanted to do. Sometimes I would think, “If Frankie can walk, then I’m going to walk too.”
Excerpt 3:
I am very happy that I did both the Top of the Rock and the Empire State challenge myself, and now I know I could do it. It was a big accomplishment. Now I just walk up the stairs in my building for exercise, as well as ride my exercise bike to keep my body in tune.
